Hardware vs. software wallets
A hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor, SafePal S1, Ellipal Titan) stores private keys offline on a dedicated device — signing a transaction requires physical confirmation. A software wallet (Trust Wallet, Exodus) runs on a phone or computer that's always connected to the internet — more convenient day-to-day, but without physical key isolation.
Air-gap and wireless connectivity
SafePal S1 and Ellipal Titan communicate only via QR code, with no USB, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi. Ledger and Trezor connect via USB-C (some Ledger models also add Bluetooth) — any form of wireless connectivity is a deliberate trade-off between convenience and minimizing attack surface.

What does "air-gapped" mean for SafePal S1 and Ellipal Titan?
It means the device has no physical USB port, Bluetooth module, or Wi-Fi at all — communication with the companion app happens only by scanning QR codes, so data never crosses any electrical or radio connection between the wallet and a phone or computer.
Why do some wallets keep their firmware closed despite marketing themselves as secure?
