eToro was founded in 2007 in Tel Aviv by brothers Yoni and Ronen Assia along with David Ring. Today the group has operational hubs in Israel (Bnei Brak) and the UK, among others, with separate locally regulated entities managing individual markets — hence the CySEC and FCA licenses noted below.
Regulation
CFD services for clients in the European Union are provided by eToro (Europe) Ltd, regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), license no. 109/10. eToro (UK) Ltd operates under the UK's FCA. The group also holds licenses in other jurisdictions (including ASIC in Australia).

Account and platform
eToro's minimum deposit depends on the client's country of residence — depending on the market, it ranges from tens of dollars up to 200 USD/EUR. Every account includes a free, unlimited virtual demo wallet worth $100,000 for testing strategies risk-free. Trading happens exclusively on eToro's own platform (browser and mobile app) — the broker doesn't support MetaTrader 4/5, instead offering its own solution integrated with the CopyTrader feature.
Who eToro is for
eToro stands out for its CopyTrader feature, which lets you automatically copy the trades of selected, more experienced investors — a good option for people who want to learn from others' strategies instead of analyzing the market from scratch on their own. Extensive social features (including public portfolios and a news feed) make eToro an appealing choice for social-trading fans, less so for traders looking purely for advanced analytical tools or the lowest possible spreads.
