Crypto debit cards — ranking

A crypto debit card lets you pay with crypto (or funds from an exchange account) just like an ordinary debit card — the store or payment terminal doesn’t even need to know the transaction was settled in crypto. Below we compare three cards we have a direct partnership with, and briefly mention other popular options on the market.

Crypto.com

Crypto.com Visa Card

The Crypto.com card works on a multi-tier system: the base, free tier offers no cashback, while higher tiers (with increasing cashback in the CRO token) require locking up an increasingly large amount of CRO for 12 months — the higher the tier, the higher the cashback rate, but also the higher the entry threshold. This setup makes the most sense for people who plan to hold CRO long-term anyway. Full terms and the current tier structure are on the Crypto.com review page.

Wirex

Wirex

Wirex offers a free debit card without needing to lock up a large deposit, with cashback paid out in the WXT token. Unlike the Crypto.com model, the entry threshold is lower, making Wirex a more accessible option for people who don’t want to freeze capital for a long period. The card also supports multiple local currencies for the account. Cashback details and terms are on the Wirex review page.

Coinbase

Coinbase Card

The Coinbase Card is a Visa card linked directly to your Coinbase account balance — funds are converted from your chosen cryptocurrency into fiat at the moment of payment, and cashback is credited in the asset you select. The card doesn’t require a separate locked deposit like the Crypto.com model — settlement happens on the fly from your available balance. More information on the Coinbase review page.

Kraken

Other cards on the market

Beyond the three cards above, the market also offers the Kraken card (Krak Card), which spends funds directly from a Kraken account with cashback in a currency of your choice. We don’t currently have a partnership with Kraken in this area, so we don’t present detailed terms here — if you’re considering this option, check the current offer directly on Kraken’s site before making a decision.

Card terms (cashback thresholds, required deposits, local availability) change fairly often — treat the above as a starting point and always verify the current rules on the review page of the given exchange or directly with the provider before applying for a card.

Frequently asked questions

Is a crypto debit card the same as a credit card?

No — most crypto cards are debit cards linked to an account on an exchange or crypto app. Funds are converted from crypto (or stablecoins) into fiat currency at the moment of payment, rather than borrowed as with a credit card.

Does higher cashback always require a large deposit?

In most programs, yes — the highest cashback tiers (for example, at Crypto.com) require locking up a substantial amount of the exchange's native token for a set period. The base tier of the card is usually available without a deposit, but with lower or zero cashback.

Which crypto cards are available where I live?

Crypto.com, Wirex and Coinbase cards are available in many countries, though details (settlement currency, local currency support, availability of a physical vs. virtual card) differ between providers — check the current status in the review of the specific exchange.
